 In 1531, the Virgin presented herself on several occasions to the Indian Juan Diego in Guadalupe (Mexico), and requested through him and with the help of miracles, the construction of a church on the very place of this apparition. The Blessed Virgin left a physical testimony of her appearance on the mantle of the Indian, the tilma, being the object of pilgrimages and of great devotion. Praying it allows the faithful to request the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
